Cube rummy - Everything about

Cube rummy -
Everything about the game
Cube rummy is a variation of rummy that aims to imbibe a bit of 4 separate games
– rummy, dominoes, mahjong as well as chess. This form of rummy is based on the
usage of tiles instead of cards.
What the game consists of
Cube rummy consists of tile like pieces (that look similar to the pieces in
Scrabble) and these are arranged like a deck of cards. In all, the game comes
with 104 such tiles with 4 sets of 26 tiles each. Each set has a different color
– in all there are four colors of red, blue, black and orange. Each set of 26
tiles will have two sets of tiles numbered from 1-13. That means, in total there
are two tiles of the same number in every color. In addition to these 104 tiles,
there are also 2 tiles with joker faces (these act like the joker cards in a
real card game rummy). There are also 4 game piece racks. The ultimate objective
of cube rummy is to be able to place all the tiles in one’s rack onto the table
before anyone else does.
How to play cube rummy
This is how the game proceeds:
• Each player draws 14 tiles each and places the tiles on each of their own
racks
• Players will try to arrange these tiles into either
o Groups- which are sets of three or four tiles each and having the same number
on them OR
o Runs – which are sets of three of hour tiles comprising consecutive numbers
all of the same color
• The player who manages to arrange the tiles into sets of groups or runs the
first, wins
• The winner needs to declare by saying ‘Rummikub’ or ‘Cube rummy’
Strategies to win
There are many ways to win cube rummy and consistently keep winning all future
games too. Here we provide a few tips:
• The ultimate objective is to build on the sets of tiles on your rack as soon
as possible
• One great way to ensure faster win in cube rummy is to build on the tiles
discarded by opponents. Note the tiles they are throwing and use them to build
groups or runs.
• Keep collecting as many tiles as you can at first. Then build on them to make
sets. This will ensure faster victory in cube rummy.
• Remove the odd one out. If you have a set of tiles and one of them is out of
sync, just remove it and lay the rest on the rack.

• Give and take works best. Let’s say you have a blue 6, red 6 and an orange 9.
On the table there is an orange 6, an orange 7 and an orange 8. Instead of just
discarding the redundant orange 9 tile, you can also pick up the orange 6 tile
and use it to make a run.
• Two duplicate numbers in each color exist in cube rummy. You can use this to
your advantage just in case there aren’t good tiles to make a run or group.
• Don’t discard tiles that may be useful for your opponent. To prevent this from
happening, observe the tiles your opponent lays down.
Cube rummy can be played both by children and adults alike and usually children
above 8 years of age should try to play the game.
